sono un chirurgo italiano, negli USA da oltre 10 anni.
Da poco piu' di un anno lavoro per la NYU. L'anno scorso ho fatto partire una fellowship di ricerca in chirurgia oncologica rivolta per lo piu' a giovani chirurghi italiani.
Al momento stiamo cercando candidati per Luglio 2010.

The Division of Surgical Oncology at New York University School of Medicine is seeking candidates for a Surgical Oncology Research Fellowship for the Academic Year 2010-2011.
The ideal candidate should be a current trainee or recent graduate from a Surgery Residency program and be proficient in English.
Fellows are expected to develop or expand a clinical or translational research interest in esophageal, gastric, hepatic or colo-rectal malignancies, to publish actively and to present their research to national surgical meetings.
Furthermore, fellows are encouraged to participate to weekly interdisciplinary conferences and to come to the operating rooms during major or interesting surgical oncology cases.
Requirements and expectations for the fellows are listed below.
· The fellow will be responsible for his/her traveling, housing and food expenses.
· The fellow will agree to maintain (at his/her own expenses) health insurance while in the US.
· The fellow will not receive any direct or indirect money compensation from the Department of Surgery or NYU.
· The fellow will be mainly responsible of retrospective and prospective chart review for creation and maintenance of clinical databases.
· The chart review will be done in accordance with the instructions provided by the NYU investigators responsible for each clinical database.
· The fellow will be granted first authorship in any manuscript that he/she would like to elaborate based on existing records or on the data that he/she has generated; however the final draft of the manuscript will need to be approved by the supervising faculty before submission for publication.
· Non-first name authorship will also be granted in a number of manuscripts generated by other investigators; the number of papers with the fellow listed as author will be proportional to the amount of work spent in research during the fellowship.
· The fellow will be able to observe major or interesting cases in the operating rooms, clinics and wards of the NYU Hospitals, however he/she may not scrub in cases nor have any direct interaction with patients.
· The fellow will be allowed to participate to the major conferences, meetings and grand rounds at NYU.
· The fellow will be provided with NYU ID and have access to the NYU buildings, hospitals, intranet and on-line library.

Stupendo.....due specializzandi hanno preso parte ad un progetto del genere l'anno scorso a Chicago per 3 mesi.
Per ora è fuori dalle mie tasche (costa molto mantenersi negli USA per mesi!), però sicuramente è un'esperienza da fare!
Anche se devo dire che un progetto del genere negli USA ha i suoi lati negativi: infatti gli specializzandi e persino gli specializzati Italiani in USA sono considerati alla stregua di studenti in quanto è necessaria una diversa abilitazione per poter prendere parte all'attività pratica e ospedaliera! (insomma guardare e non toccare!).
Penso che per il giovane chirurgo possa essere molto più proficua un'esperienza all'estero entro la nostra UE , in modo da integrare e implementare la nostra (purtroppo scadente) capacità pratica alla sufficiente teoria che il percorso di studi specialistico può fornirci!. -

si ma infatti secondo me sto programma è un po sconveniente: ti paghi tutto tu e pubblichi da solo.
In pratica ti danno le sale operatorie x imparare e i laboratori poi fatti tuoi.
Anche secondo me in Europa si trova " di meglio " e meno costoso!.
